Career Highlights

Bert holds a Master in Computer Science from Brussels Free University (VUB, summa cum laude) and a Master of Arts in Music, Science and Technology from Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA).

Bert previously worked as a PhD researcher at Leuven Catholic University (KUL) and Brussels Free University (VUB), publishing papers on audio signal processing and human-computer interaction research topics.

Bert received the Qwartz Max Mathews Award for inventing AudioCubes, a tangible user interface system. Bert previously founded Percussa, a pro-audio and music technology company, for which he designed multiple successful products, including AudioCubes.

Bert is a fellow of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation (BAEF), a honorary Fullbright fellow, and is a recipient of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) Educational Foundation Grant.

Bert's work is well-known internationally within the pro-audio industry and human-computer interaction research community.

Bert has over 20 years of software and hardware engineering experience, focusing his career on music and audio digital signal processing (DSP) technology, and is one of the founders of Noisetron LLC, through which he provides consulting and expert witness services and helps clients with their projects.

Bert speaks English, Dutch and French.
